Fruit Loops Arts and Crafts—a Creativity Exercise with Fun and Food

Fruit Loops Arts and Crafts—a Creativity Exercise with Fun and Food

You know I love finding unexpected items for arts and crafts, and today’s surprise palette creation is . . . Fruit Loops cereal! For me, these unexpected-art projects are never as much about the artwork itself as they are about fostering imagination, creativity, laughter, and play for your kids—and you! For this Fruit Loops art challenge, we decided to merge Fruit Loops with home decor. You can create simple wall decor by hanging strands of Fruit Loops from a skewer stick. Or go even more artistic by experimenting with embroidery hoops or other decorative hoops. (I found the three gold hoops for $2.88 for the entire set at Walmart!)

I was worried that one box of cereal wouldn’t be enough to go around (I bought two boxes in case), but a box actually goes quite a long way for everyone to create their art project (now we’ll just need to eat the extra box)! ;) Sure, these may not be permanent art pieces, but they’re a fun way to spruce up your family’s virtual learning spaces until their next unexpected art project comes along (stay tuned or check out the “arts and crafts” section at FamilyFED.com for previous ideas, including painting with popsicles and creating M&M art).
